Lake Nipissing

Lake Nipissing is Ontario's fifth largest lake excluding the great lakes.  It is located about 50 km northeast of Georgian Bay.  The maximum depth is about 50 meters but the average is around 5 meters.  Because it is so relatively shallow it is consequently well aerated which helps support a healthy plant and fish life ( over 40 different species of fish are present ).  It is known for great fishing, especially for walleye.  Its total area is 832 squared kilometers and is situated 196 meters above the sea level.
