Information On Red Lake

Red Lake is a large dark colored lake that is over 42 kilometers long and has a maximum depth of around 43 meters.  It is a part of the Red Lake waterway which includes several other lakes such as Ranger Lake, Keg Lake, Gullrock lake and Two Island Lake.  Red Lake is the largest of the five lakes making up Red Lake waterway.  Ranger Lake is a fish sanctuary which is closed until mid June, to provide walleye enough time to spawn.  Ranger Lake is a very shallow and weedy lake which is about 4 kilometers long and has a maximum depth of around 3 meters.  Keg Lake has several shallow water reefs as well as large underwater structures.  The maximum depth of the Keg Lake is around 18 meters with some deep holes which hold cold water that comes in from Red Lake.  Gullrock Lake is about 16 kilometers long and has the maximum depth of around 18 meters and has several sunken islands and long points.  Two Island Lake is a much smaller lake than any of the other four and has only two shallow spots.
