Bloater
Average length of Bloater is about 9 inches and it weights around 8 ounces. It is silvery with some pink and purple iridescence,with a greenish tinge above lateral line and a silvery white ventral surface. Common names for Bloater are: bloater chub, bloat, chub and Hoy's cisco. It is commonly found in lakes Superior, Ontario, and Huron.
Bloaters As Game Fish
Bloaters are small, soft-fleshed oily fish that will most likely never be sought after as game fish. They are usually too far from shore and their mouth is too small for ordinary bait as they mostly feed on zooplankton and other organisms near the bottom of the lake. They are mostly harvested commercialy because as smoked fish they are in high esteem on the market.
