Ruffe

Ruffe's average length is between 3 and 6 inches and it is olive-brown to golden brown on the back with paler sides and yellowish white belly.  Common names for the Ruffe are: eurasian rufe, river rufe and pope.  It is commonly found in lakes Superior and Huron.
 

Popular Bait For Ruffe

Despite Ruffe being a tasty fish, due to it's size it is not a very popular fish for sport fishermen and commercial fishermen alike.  Most popular baits for ruffe fishing are worms and maggots.  Worms should be used in sections as ruffe is a very small fish. 

Where To Look For Ruffe

 
Ruffe is a shoal fish and it can be found foraging on weed and sand banks feeding on isect larvae and small fry.  It is most active at dawn and dusk.
