Where To Look For White Bass

They are a schooling fish so when you find one, you will find many.  This is not only true during spawning runs but all year round.  Between January and May are their spawning runs, they move up the rivers and streams to spawn,  and fishing is usually better during this time because they are hunger driven, and feed often during their spawning runs making frequent stops for food.
When they're not in migration they preffer larger lakes because they have more room for the large schools.  When they move into open water they are much harder to find.  They can be anywhere between 10 and 50 feet deep.  Some fishermen use binoculars to find flocks of seagulls circling and dive bombing the water.  They are feeding on shad, and the shad are usually being chased to the surface by White Bass.  In the mornings during summer, target shallow flats near deep water ti find the fish.
